Prevention and Education around Child Sexual Abuse

Julie Ellison from Family Nurturing Center “Stewards for Children”

“Before the age of 18 roughly 20% of our kids are sexually victimized or exploited by trusted, known, adults or more powerful youth. Stewards of Children is a video based, award winning, program which changes not only how we understand the why, when, where of child sexual assault but provides 7 easy, safety steps adults can take to prevent, recognize and react responsibly.” This empowering experience is helpful for child and adult therapists to help educate parents and treat children regarding sexual trauma. Julie Ellison is the Outreach Director of Stewards for Children and a dynamic speaker.

Clinician Overview of Mindfulness

Michael Wizer,Psy.D.

Dr. Wizer is a health psychologist with decades of clinical experience in integrating mindfulness into psychotherapy and the application of mindfulness in healthcare. He believes that mindfulness enables patients to therapeutically modify many of the troubling issues they face, such as anxiety and stress, ruminative thoughts, undeveloped executive functioning, undesirable urges and impulsive behavior, chronic grief, and challenging life adjustment. For the last three years, Dr. Wizer has offered mindfulness groups to Bridgepointe patients as well as mindfulness training to clinicians at Bridgepointe.
